What is OkularID?OkularID is a unique digital id platform based on facial biometric technology to authenticate users based on their live physical presence. OkularID is a perfect solution for passwordless access management, authentication, and sharing data in digital space and the real world.
-
Why do we need OkularID?OkularID brings "Digital Trust" in a digital world! OkularID ensures data privacy and confidentiality in a world prone to data breaches and hacks because of weak passwords and ids. Knowledge-based passwords are an inconvenience to companies and customers alike, requiring a regular security update resulting in more time and money, costing companies millions of dollars annually.

What’s the difference between digital ID and OkularID?A digital identity is an information on an entity used by computer systems to represent an external agent. That agent may be a person, organization, application, or device. A simple digital ID, like an email or phone number, can easily be stolen and may not be a protection against hacks and spoofs. These IDs uses knowledge base Multi-Factor Authentication, a password, a PIN, Security Questions, an OTP as an authenticating factor, which could only provide identity approximation. In turn, it could allow others to control the data once they get hold of the passwords. OkularID is a unique ID that provides absolute proof of user identity and requires no passwords! OkularID can not be stolen or deconstructed and protects your sensitive information in the digital world, ensuring the privacy and security of your data.
-
What makes OkularID so unique?OkularID is passwordless, and only the live physical presence of the user will unlock the access. The liveness feature prevents fraudulent online transactions and prevents data breaches due to stolen passwords, hacks, and spoofs. In addition, OkularID enables passwordless encrypted file share and ensures digital privacy based on biometric authentication. So, forget trying to manage multiple passwords! No more hacking and spoofing of our private world.
-
How secure is OkularID?Secure by design is in the very foundation of OkularID. It provides two layers of authentication through its proprietory "One to One" encrypted privacy shield, on top of the end-to-end encryption layer, ensuring secure data transfer. On access request by any app, OkularID sends the notification on users' pre-confirmed mobile phone or email to verify the request; hence 2F authentication is built in the design. Live biometric verification ensures that no one else can access the information, data, or file except the intended user, even if somebody else has your mobile or computer device or hacked into your email ID.
-
What is OkularID privacy shield?OkularID is a robust and secure ID platform with a revolutionary One-to-One privacy shield, a unique combination of facial biometric-based identity, and data encryption that allows one to share digital data securely only to the intended users. Furthermore, the One-to-One privacy shield secures information when someone tries to steal and hack into your accounts, enabling passwordless authentication or encrypted file share and ensuring digital privacy and data security. We at OkularID value privacy and take steps to make sure your Personal Information is accurately maintained and used as you deem fit.
-
Can OkularID be used as SSO (Single Sign-On)?Yes, OkularID is compliant with the latest OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0. standards to allow single sign-on (SSO) which links to an intended person behind the ID. Only the physical, live presence of that person can unlock access.
-
How is OkularID beneficial to any business?OkularID, with its unique liveness and passwordless features, helps secure the digital world preventing data breaches. It is secure by design, provides two-layer authentication, and adds a privacy shield layer on top of end-to-end encryption. Furthermore, it is passwordless (requiring no knowledge-based passwords and forgetting the same). As a result, it saves time and password management costs (approx. $150 per person per year) and provides a frictionless customer experience.
-
How would OkularID help an individual save their digital accounts?OkularID ensures the user is physically present not fooled by photos, masks, and deep fakes. You are in total control of your data and accounts access. Since OkularID is secure by design two-factor based digital id which uses facial biometric technology for authentication based only on the live physical presence of the person for access to accounts and data. The liveness feature prevents fraudulent online transactions and data breaches due to stolen knowledge-based passwords and spoofs.
-
What is a facial recognition system?A facial recognition system is a technology capable of matching a human face from a digital image or a video frame against a database of faces, typically employed to authenticate users through ID verification services, works by pinpointing and measuring facial features from a given image.
-
How secure is Facial Biometrics?OkularID securely performs 3D LIVE matching from virtually any device. Since facial biometrics is live passwordless access, all data is processed only at the server-side to verify the liveness and photo matching. After logging in, the server stripped off the liveness data to prevent any replay attacks in the system. It prevents biometric honeypots, credential sharing, and botnet attacks on your digital accounts, keeping your data secure.
-
What is the difference between 2D and 3D scans?Given the fast-changing sophisticated technology- 2D Matching will never have the accuracy needed for true "Unsupervised Identity Verification & Authentication." There's too much variability in how the same 3D human face appears when flattened into 2D at different image capture distances. This variability creates significant overlapping similarity between the 2D features of various humans and confuses the 2D algorithms, preventing them from achieving highly accurate FARs at usable FRRs.
-
How is OkularID authentication different than other authentications? Most of the digital identity systems depend on knowledge-based passwords, pins, and some on photo verifications. The digital ecosystem is prone to data breaches and hacks because of weak passwords and ids. A security program is only as strong as its weakest link. OkularID initiates liveness checks for every authentication request. It is fast, easy, and incredibly secure for everyone, regardless of their device. OkularID identity platform timestamp every authentication request; the validity lasts only a few minutes. After logging in, the server stripped off the liveness data, and on every subsequent request, it collects new liveness data for the next login.
-
How biometric data is stored? All user data is stored in a separate server without any link to user PII information.
-
Do we share user biometric data with others?Strictly No. Biometric data is used for Liveness check and matching internally by SelfyID.
-
Is biometric data encrypted?Biometric data are encrypted during transfer and storage.
-
In what manner is the biometric data processed and stored?During the OkularID session, a face scan is generated from 100+ frames. This face scan is proprietary and timestamped. It consists of liveness data and face matching data. This data is processed only at the server-side and after verifying the liveness and photo matching data stripped off of liveness data. So data stored on the server-side can't be used for any replay attacks in the system. Due to the proprietary nature of the stored data, it can't be used for any other purpose or deconstructed.
-
Is the device side is the only way to secure biometric data?On-device biometrics weakly link a User to a device, Server-side biometrics permanently bind the User to their account. If a phone’s on-device biometric lock can be overridden by a Pin# then anyone with that pin# can take over the device. The real issue is if the stored data can be used for anything else and in our case it can't be used for any other purpose.
